Creative Thinking in New York City

Visit all types of creative people from painters, illustrators, designers, to printmakers and see them in the spaces where they create. Explore many other creative work spaces such as museums, galleries, animation studios, book publishers and design firms. All you will need is a sketchbook, a pen or pencil, camera (smart phone) and comfortable shoes. Students will record their inspirations in their sketchbooks or digital tools. There will be two classroom workshops, some with guest artists. A final project – video or printed booklet, will be due at the end of class.
The first class will meet at Syracuse University‘s Joseph I. Lubin House, 11 East 61st Street in New York City.
Some outings will include the American Museum of Natural History, The Center for Book Art, Scholastic Books, Artist studios, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, The High Line, MTA art collection, Sketchbook at Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical garden, South Street Seaport, Coney Island, Ground Zero memorial and a few live summer concerts.
Registration begins March 22nd. Space is limited.
